Although I have used Barrett-Lee previously, on this occasion my car went in for an MOT and suffered a swirl flap failure (a common fault with BMW diesels) whilst being emissions tested. Following this I was immediately informed about the failure and had then had a continual dialogue with the garage until the car was repaired and ultimately passed the MOT. The only criticism I could possibly raise is that the repair took longer than I anticipated, but I am unable to fault the service provided as it even ran to a courtesy car for the whole period of the repair at no additional charge. I have used Barrett-Lee on many occasions in the past and have found them to be most helpful providing a high level of communication with me as a customer without trying to baffle with jargon, even to the extent of being able to talk to the mechanic working on the car. I have always felt comfortable as I have been kept informed of what is happening with my car. They are willing to give information about how things are going and do not pressure to have unnecessary work carried out. The approach is much more one of advising what will need to be done over coming months which is somewhat refreshing after previous experiences with other garages. I would therefore recommend them, and have done so, to anyone looking for what I consider to be a value for money garage.

I am very pleased with the way Barrett Lee dealt with providing information to me prior to the service, which also involved replacement of the cam belt and water pump at 4 years in accordance with VW practice. Brake fluid was also replaced, air conditioning serviced and headlamp bulbs replaced with Bosch brighter lights which make driving at night much better. These were recommended by Barrett Lee. A courtesy car was provided on the day of the service, and mine was valeted while with Barrett Lee. The car is running well, and I am completely satisfied with their work. Their workshop is spotless, reception staff excellent and smart in Company logo clothes with plenty of good advice.

Excellent customer service

I have had an ongoing problem with the Audi gearbox. Barrett-Lee stripped down and renewed the Auto Transmission ECU which appeared to solve the problem at first but it soon returned and became dangerous to drive as it kept changing gear at the wrong time (travelling at 70mph it would suddenly go into 2nd gear). Barrett-Lee collected the vehicle from me and carried out tests as advised by Automatic gearbox specialists which confirmed an internal mechanical fault within the gearbox. The vehicle was collected by Technical Automatic Services in Colchester and a complete gearbox repair was carried out at a cost of £2,622.00 Barrett-Lee returned the car to me with the TAS Invoice which I paid. There were no extra charges from Barrett-Lee. The car has been working perfectly ever since and now the Audi is due for its service I will definitely be taking it back to Barrett-Lee.
