Central Motors

Central Motors is a rural garage & filling station situated at the western edge of St Anns Chapel Gunnislake on the A390 Tavistock to Callington road. The present owner, Dave Martin, bought the company in 1967 when it was based at Newbridge Hill Gunnislake.

In 1972 the business expanded when Southover Filling Station was bought. Along with the rented property 'Newbridge Garage' the company traded from all three premises for many years.

In 1989 the St Anns Chapel site was redeveloped to include new Workshops, Reception, Stores and Car showrooms.

The business then relocated to the St Anns Chapel site and the Newbridge Hill site was sold.
Today, the business consists of an Esso branded filling station, forecourt shop, used car sales, vehicle repair workshop and MOT testing station.

Although I didn't ask to see the replaced parts, they were offered for my inspection, but I declined. On booking the service I was offered a courtesy car but was quite happy with a lift home (I live in a rural area) and the car was dropped off when the service was done. After almost 50 years of driving I have found the staff at Central Motors to be the best I've ever known. They are experts in what they do and always take time to explain what they've done and also point out any future problems that might occur.

I have known Central Motors since I moved to the area in 1981. They have always provided an excellent, efficient service and will help the client in any way they can in order to accommodate their motoring needs. My daughter and her husband take their vehicles to the garage and are delighted with the service. My son, before he moved and his wife took their vehicles there and were very pleased and my son-in-law's parents have been taking their vehicles to Centrel Motors for many, many years and are also very pleased with the service.
