For the past 5 years I have used Top Marques, and their customer service and standard of work has been exemplary. It's easy to book your car in, they explain work prior to carrying it out to ensure you are kept informed and they are always happy to talk through issues and give recommendations of other businesses/competitors if they themselves can't do the work. When your car is ready they call and send a text message, which is ideal when you're busy and can't ring back straight away. Most importantly however is the fact they are trustworthy. Whether you're talking to the receptionist, a mechanic or the boss, you get the same level of attention - and they always remember your name! Best of all though is they now have this awesome little room full of kidstoys which my boy Charlie loves, along with a huge flatscreen TV where I can sit and either watch my MOT happening or alternatively Jeremey Kyle berating some poor sap for sleeping with his mother's best friend's daughter's dog. What's not to like!? Lovely people, great service, sensible prices. You can't ask much more from your local garage to be fair.

Once again Top Marques were professional in their dealings with me. I have been used to patronising remarks at other so called "professional" garages (being a woman) but never have I had any problems here. Being a female driver I am always wary of being taken advantage of by areas in which I am not qualified. As there was a few things wrong with the car and i was a bit baffled by the cost and with no knowledge of cars i asked for the minimal work to be carried out. When i went to pick up the car i was told i need to sort out the brake fluid which has to be done . If it has to be done im not sure why it wasnt included .

I only recently found this feedback website so I thought I'd drop a line. I brought my car in sometime during the summer of 2006 for Top Marques to have a look at the brakes. I felt there was something wrong with them (the car veered when brakes were applied). The garage identified the problem as something to do with a column being corroded and "repaired" the brakes. Total cost was around £300. A day later I was driving down to London and the brakes completely went, nearly causing me to crash my car. I made it back to Hitchin and the following morning called the garage and brought the car back in. They said that it wasn't their fault and that the work they did had not been related to the new problem. Some bullshit about the new column applying more pressure to another part of the brakes which had then caused a separate, worn-out part to collapse. How they didn't pick that up in the first place is beyond me. At the very least they missed something pretty bloody obvious. All I knew was that brought in a car that had brakes that worked but didn't feel right. After the "repairs" the brakes then completely ceased to operate. After identifying this new, unrelated problem, Top Marques then charged me another £530 to sort out the new problem. So all in all, I had handed over in the region of £850. Have never gone back and have told everybody around Hitchin to avoid Top Marques. I only ever took my car there because my idiot friend uses the garage constantly. He's a mug. Anyway, I have no want to follow the matter as it's so long time ago (hence I am writing under a false name). Just wanted to let Top Marques know that I was very disappointed in their work and that at least in my case your work was shoddy and fell below the level expected. And to let these Motor Codes people know that Top Marques has some issues surrounding their work. Just in case there are others out there who feel they have been done the same way as I was

The first garage where I don't worry about getting overcharged because I'm a woman - very refreshing! Everyone working there is friendly and helpful at all times... I couldn't recommend Top Marques more highly.
