Micheldever pioneers independent customer rating tool for garages

New web service from Motor Codes

Micheldever Tyre Services/Protyre, the UK's largest independent wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres, has applied the Motor Codes online customer ratings tool, displaying up-to-the-minute satisfaction scores and real-time motorist feedback across all 53  Protyre outlets.

Powered by data collected through the Motor Codes online survey - a measure of service satisfaction amongst customers of its garages throughout the UK - the ratings widget has been developed as part of a recent refresh of the car service and repair regulator's website.  It appears against all Motor Codes garages, clearly visible to motorists using its Garage Finder tool to search for a reliable business.

However, this informative guide is not confined to visitors to the Motor Codes website.  In an industry first, subscribers to Motor Codes are able to download the widget for use on their own website, bringing the potential to share feedback online for over 6,000 garages nationwide.

The simple visual ratings display has been designed to make it clear to motorists that Motor Codes subscribers are open to scrutiny and to help consumers make an informed choice, as Managing Director, Chris Mason, explains, "Motorists using our online Garage Finder can choose where to take their car, safe in the knowledge that they've based their decision on word-of-mouth recommendation.  We want to boost confidence and direct customer reviews have proven effective across all retail sectors.  Motorists should be able to share their car servicing experiences, just as they would with a meal in a restaurant or a stay at a hotel."

Simon Hiorns, Retail Director at Protyre, sees the simplicity of the tool as its major benefit, "We're showing the Motor Codes rating on all of our garage web pages, as this is a quick way of letting customers know that they're dealing with a business they can trust.    Changing tyres is a necessity but one that needs to be as straightforward and stress-free as possible.  By inviting feedback and displaying comments openly, we are removing the anxiety associated with choosing a new garage."

Alongside the Protyre garages, other early adopters of the ratings technology include a host of independent garages, as well as authorised dealers representing Citroën, Mazda and SEAT.

"The independence of the feedback is the most important element.  Garages aren't cherry-picking testimonials and this adds real credibility to our network", said Chris.
