Our Codes tell you clearly what to expect from a garage - setting out and defining the promises made by subscribers regarding:

Motor Codes is a voluntary organisation created for the motor industry and motorists, to provide a check and balance on customer service levels. Our Codes of Practice - for new car sales, service and repair warranties have been developed by those within the motor industry to provide a self-regulatory regime by which individual garages can demonstrate their intention to operate as responsible businesses and have in place a speedy dispute resolution service that consumers can readily access in the event of a service issue.
Supported by government organisations and with our own activities overseen by a panel led by Trading Standards Chief Executive, Ron Gainsford OBE, Motor Codes is working towards full approval by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) under its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. TSI Approved Codes promote and safeguard consumers' interests by helping consumers identify better businesses and to encourage businesses to raise their standards of customer service.
Our Codes are simple and straightforward for subscribers to follow but effective in maintiaing first-class customer service.
Developing a network of professional, reliable, quality garages, currently at over 7,800 across the UK, Motor Codes is unique in that it provides ratings and customer comments on its garages, viewable to potential customers using our Garage Finder tool.
